The Fisherman's Mission

How can the role make a difference? 

 

The Cancer Community Champion Volunteer role will bring the work of the Fisherman's Mission Cancer Community Programme (C-Aware) to the fishing community.  

 

What tasks are included in this volunteering opportunity? 

 

Working alongside the staff team with the co-delivery of C-Aware group work and   C-Aware activities 

Assisting with the planning & delivery of events and campaigns 

Attending C-Aware partnership meetings and co-delivery of C-Aware presentations 

Promotion of the C-Aware Programme 

Signposting members of the fishing community to relevant cancer services 

Attending local volunteering events as a Fisherman's Mission Volunteer Representative 

What skills do I need?

  • Good communication 

  • Friendly & outgoing 

  • Motivated and keen to be involved in raising cancer awareness 

  • To be reliable  

  • Someone who is confident with good organisational skills 

  • An awareness of the North Shields area and a willingness to learn about the fishing community

The Fishermen’s Mission (officially the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen) is a UK-wide charity dedicated to serving active and retired fishermen, as well as their families, with services rooted in Christian values.
