Are you passionate about supporting young people and improving mental health through physical activity? US Active, a charity dedicated to improving the well-being of children and young adults in the Tyne and Wear region, is seeking a dynamic individual to become its next Chair of Trustees. This voluntary leadership role is your opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.
About US Active
Founded in 2016, US Active is committed to using physical exercise as a tool for better mental health, helping young people (ages 12-25) facing mental health challenges engage in physical activities that boost their confidence, mental resilience, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and governance to ensure US Active achieves its mission.
Chair Board meetings effectively and work with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to set agendas and drive decisions.
Support fundraising efforts, review financial reports, and ensure accountability.
Act as an ambassador for US Active, representing the charity in public and at key stakeholder meetings.
Lead and develop the Board of Trustees to maximise their collective impact.

Who We Are Looking For:
Passion & Commitment: A strong, visible dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable young people.
Leadership & Governance Experience: Proven track record in leadership roles, especially in charity governance or Board-level experience.
Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and inspire diverse groups of people.
Strategic Vision: Ability to set clear goals, assess risks, and ensure the charity’s financial health.

Time Commitment: Approx. 2 days per month, including attending board meetings, strategic sessions, and representing the charity at key events.
