Join the Good Neighbours Project – Help Make a Garden Safer and Brighter * Please note gardening only takes place between April and September*
The Good Neighbours Project recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to carry out practical, neighbourly tasks that make a real difference. One key focus is helping with gardens that may pose a safety risk to residents—especially when overgrown paths or neglected spaces become difficult to manage.
For individuals who are disabled, living alone, or facing challenges, keeping on top of outdoor spaces can be overwhelming—especially without someone to turn to for help.
We’re looking for volunteers to take part in one-off garden tidy-ups. Tasks may include:

How much time do you need to give? As much or as little as you like! The Good Neighbours Project offers flexible volunteering opportunities across North Tyneside, so you can make a real difference in a way that works for you. This role is completely flexible and shaped by the needs of local people—many of whom are older or living alone. There’s no long-term commitment required—just a willingness to help when you’re able. Whether you’ve got an hour to spare or a few days a month, your time matters.
