Kitchen Assistant Volunteer

Howdelicious, is a community café based at Howdon Hub, serving affordable and nutritious food to our community. Our motto is ‘Food with a Social Purpose'
As our Kitchen Assistant volunteer, you would be an integral part of our team providing some delicious ‘home cooked’ food.

Duties include:
Set up/clear away the kitchen following our opening/closing checks.
Support with food preparation in line with the current menu.
Be allergen aware, ensure safe food preparation in line with customer dietary requirements.
Contribute to ensuring a clean and safe kitchen & cafe environment.
Wash dishes/load/unload dish washer.
Support with stock and ordering.
Record keeping in line with Environmental Health requirements.
Reporting repairs/issues needed

What skills do I need?

• Well presented with a friendly and cheerful persona.

• Good personal hygiene standards, tidy and organised

• Ability to work as a team.

• Good communication skills (oral &written)

• Good time management skills.

• Basic numeracy skills.

• Basic knowledge of food preparation.

• Basic knowledge of food hygiene.

• Basic knowledge of allergens.

• An awareness of health & safety issues in a kitchen/café environment.
