Lead the Adventure: Cubs Team Assistant Leader Needed!

20th Whitley Bay Scout Group

We need an enthusiastic Cubs Team Assistant Leader to guide our curious and energetic Cub Scouts (aged 8–10½) through the next big steps of their Scouting journey.

At the beating heart of our programme, we need a Cubs Team Assistant Leader. By stepping into this role, you’ll guide our amazing, curious, and energetic Cub Scouts (aged 8 to 10½) as they take the next massive steps on their Scouting journey. Most importantly, you’ll have a brilliant time doing it.

Mastering new skills. Exploring the local community. Embarking on their first wild pack holidays. We could go on and on! From conquering outdoor challenges to building secret dens, if it involves curiosity and adventure, our Cubs are doing it. All that’s missing now? Your leadership.

Our Cubs Team Leaders are the ultimate planners and memory-makers. By this we mean they bring the enthusiasm, help channel that legendary Cub energy into awesome team activities, and hand out those hard-earned badges with pride.

You’ll lead the way in lighting campfires, navigating night hikes, and running action-packed games nights. Or, maybe you’ll introduce them to coding, stargazing, or DIY. It’s not just our young people who gain skills for life and grow in confidence, but our Team Leaders, too.

Cubs is open to everyone, and that includes our fantastic volunteers. We know you have something unique to bring to the pack—whether that’s your knack for storytelling, great organizational skills, or just a big dose of encouragement. Go on, lead the pack. We’re sure you’ll never look back.

What skills do I need?

A Cubs Team Leader requires a blend of youth-facing mentoring skills and administrative abilities. Core competencies include strong communication to inspire young people, patience, and the capability to safely deliver a balanced, creative programme. Leaders must also excel at teamwork, coordinating fellow volunteers, and managing basic digital tasks.
