Reception volunteer

Family Gateway

The reception volunteer will be the first person that the majority of our visitors will meet. The will help and assist with general enquiries and bookings for the hub and the services it offers. This will include:
- meeting and greeting visitors with a positive attitude
- help with general enquiries whether that is face to face or over the phone
- volunteers to contact internal staff or more experienced volunteers to assist if required (put calls on hold / ask visitor to wait while someone who has the correct knowledge is
found)
- volunteers to make notes of Names and Contact Numbers if they can't help and advise that someone will be in contact to discuss further. Volunteer will then pass this
message on to internal staff
- if volunteer has good knowledge of local services they can advise visitors of these and how to access them
- help with bookings for groups at the Hub and the gym using the till system and clipboard
- taking payments using the till system
- taking pre bookings/takeaway bookings for food over the phone for lunches then passing information to the kitchen
- general housekeeping duties - e.g. if Howdelicious is busy, they can help clear tables and wipe them down between customers, keep front desk clean and tidy
- provide directions to people at the Hub (eg, if people arrive at our Hub thinking it is the Family Hub)
- provide phone numbers or website details to people (eg, Howdon Family Hub phone number or NUF website to sign up for Kicks)
- light admin duties (eg, making signs, printing and laminating)
- showing people around the building, directing people to meeting rooms
- assist with taking referrals for food parcels (in person / over the phone) or help in the building to put together a small food package
- pass on information from internal staff to visitors or other staff members

What skills do I need?

Well presented with a friendly and cheerful persona.
Ability to work as a team.
Good communication skills (oral &written)
Good time management skills.
Basic numeracy skills.
