Reception volunteer

The Meadows

As a Reception Volunteer, you’ll be one of the first people visitors meet when they come to The Meadows. You’ll help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, support visitors with any questions they may have, and assist with a range of administrative tasks to help the centre run smoothly.

This is a great opportunity to meet new people, develop your skills, and play an important role in supporting our community.

What You’ll Be Doing

· Greeting visitors and making them feel welcome.

· Helping people find activities, groups, meetings, or services within the centre.

· Passing messages to staff when visitors arrive or call.

· Responding to enquiries in person, over the phone, or by email.

· Creating attractive displays and updating information on notice boards.

· Ensuring leaflets and information around the centre are current and well presented.

· Helping maintain the smooth day-to-day running of the centre.

· Having opportunities to get involved in planning and supporting events.

We’re looking for volunteers who are:

· Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the service.

· Good listeners and communicators.

· Comfortable working as part of a team.

· Able to handle sensitive situations with empathy and without judgement.

· Willing to attend training and participate in support and supervision sessions.

· Willing to follow health and safety procedures to help keep everyone safe.

Requirements

· All volunteers must complete our Volunteer Induction and Training programme.

Please note that having previous convictions does not automatically prevent you from volunteering with us. We consider each situation individually, taking into account the nature of the conviction, how long ago it occurred, and the positive changes that may have taken place since. We believe that a person’s past should not define their future.

Benefits of Volunteering at The Meadows

As a volunteer, you’ll receive:

· Reimbursement of travel expenses.

· A meal in our café when volunteering for 4 hours or more in a day.

· Ongoing support from our Volunteer Coordinator.

· Invitations to volunteer celebration events and other Meadows activities.

· Access to our Employment Service and support from our Skills and Support Worker.
