Employability Mentors support people finding their way into work, training, or new skills such as digital skills and English.
You will provide one-to-one guidance, practical help, and encouragement as mentees build confidence, develop key abilities, and take steps toward employment or further learning. Your support will help remove barriers, unlock opportunities, and empower people to build independence and achieve their goals.
- Support people to explore and progress into suitable work, training, or education pathways.
- Help build and strengthen essential skills — including digital skills (using devices, online tools, job boards, and communication platforms) and English language confidence for work and daily life.
- Assist with creating or updating CVs, completing application forms, writing cover letters, and presenting skills and experience effectively.
- Prepare for interviews: share tips, run practice sessions, and build confidence for both in-person and virtual interviews.
- Help identify and access relevant training, courses, or volunteering opportunities to boost skills and experience.
- Explain UK workplace basics, expectations, and rights in clear, accessible language.
- Listen, encourage resilience, and help mentees stay motivated — especially when progress feels slow or setbacks happen.
- Maintain regular, reliable contact; keep all personal information confidential; respect boundaries.
- Update the Aspiring Dreams team on progress and signpost to additional support where needed.
- Follow all organization policies, including safeguarding and data protection.
What skills do I need?
1. Basic
digital skills to guide others using computers, internet, and apps
2. Experience with
