What is the purpose of the role?

The Northumbria Voluntary Services Shops are there to provide a service to Staff, Patients and Visitors, all profits are donated to the Trust for the benefit of patients.

What tasks can this role include?

• Making and serving hot drinks, operation the till, stacking shelves and sandwich cabinets, selling newspapers, toiletries

• Building up a relationship with patients/families

• Provide a service to hospital staff, patients and visitors

• Befriending Patients 

What skills do I need?

This might be the role for you if:

· You are confident to talk to Patients/families

· You enjoy chatting with people and putting them at ease

· You have excellent listening skills

· You are empathetic and non-judgemental

· Can provide one morning or afternoon per week

What skills, knowledge and experience might you gain through this role?

· Social skills and inter-personal skills

· An awareness and understanding of disability

· Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed in accordance with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Volunteering Policy

Location: North Tyneside hospital, Wansbeck General hospital, The Northumbria hospital Cramlington, Blyth General hospital and Hexham General hospital.

A DBS check at an enhanced level is required for this role.
