Volunteer Receptionist

Are you passionate about people and community? Do you enjoy creating a warm, friendly atmosphere where everyone feels seen and supported? Join us as a Volunteer Receptionist at our vibrant community centre in the heart of the Meadowell in North Shields.

What You’ll Do:

- Greet visitors with a smile and help them feel at home  

- Answer phone calls and direct enquiries to the right team member or sign posted of an external organisation  

- Support with basic admin tasks like booking rooms and managing sign-in sheets  

- Keep the reception area tidy, welcoming, and well-stocked with information  

- Be a friendly point of contact for volunteers, staff, and community members

What skills do I need?

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

- Has excellent communication skills

- Is good with people of all background

- Is patience and understanding 

- Is friendly, reliable, and enjoys helping others  

- Has basic computer skills 

- Can commit to at least one half-day per week  

- Shares our values

About The Cedarwood Trust

Cedarwood is a community hub based in the Meadow Well estate in North Shields. We focus on supporting our visitors to make use of opportunities to improve their health, education, leisure, and economic situation. Our core themes are community support, training, food poverty and child development. We rely heavily on volunteers to provide our range of activities and services.

We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm, we are looking for reception cover from around 10am to 2pm. We are looking for multiple volunteers to share and cover the 5 days.
